Get support to develop your career through professional and personal coaching

“I’m ambitious and want to reach a VP position within three years. Should I pursue a promotion in my current company, where people know me well? Or should I aim for a role at a different company?”

“I’m worn out by toxic leadership and am close to a sick leave for the second time in my career. Is there even a place for me out there? How do I make the right career shift?”

“I need growth: Should I go for a top position in a smaller company, or maybe stay at my current level and switch industries?”

“I want to excel at my job, and I want to be the best parent to my kids. Right now, it feels like I have to choose between the two. But with professional coaching and career guidance, maybe I can find balance.”

There are many reasons to seek career guidance, and you might recognize parts of yourself in some of the above questions. Or you may have entirely different reasons for considering professional career counseling.

There’s a competitive aspect to careers: we compare ourselves to others, look at titles, pay grades, and team sizes, and it can make a career feel like a race. But your career is too important to simply run along with the crowd. As your career coach, we’ll explore what truly matters to you and how to shape your career to achieve it.

Career Counseling for Leaders

As a leader, you often face challenges where decisions not only impact you but also your employees and the organization as a whole. Career counseling can support you in navigating your career confidently, whether you are an experienced senior executive, a mid-level manager, or new to a leadership role.

I offer career counseling for leaders, where we work together to identify your strengths, challenges, and career goals. Through this process, you gain clarity on how to best leverage your leadership skills to create value in your current role or take the next step in your career.

My goal is to help you build a meaningful work life that aligns with your personal values and ambitions, whether you are facing challenges related to employee management, strategic development, or work-life balance.

What can you work on in a Career Coaching program?

Career coaching is relevant in many situations. Here are just a few examples:

  • When you feel ready for a promotion

  • When you’ve reached the end of the road somewhere and need a change

  • When you’re offered new opportunities and are uncertain about which path to take

  • When you’re laid off

Often, we clarify which direction you should take by exploring the following questions:

  • What are you naturally good at?

  • What brings you joy in your daily life?

  • What are the most important values in your life?

  • What has your career taught you?

  • What opportunities are opening up for you?

How Does a Career Counseling Process Work?

We meet at my office in Copenhagen, where I have an inviting space situated right by the canals of Christianshavn. Virtual meetings are also an option, although, in my experience, in-person meetings work best. Additionally, I have a few days each month when I travel to meet clients.

In the first session, we usually cover a broad range of what you’d like to work on, and we confirm whether we are a good match – meaning I believe I can help you, and you feel confident that the process will be beneficial for you.

A coaching process typically involves 10 sessions. We adjust the frequency of our meetings based on your needs – whether that’s weekly, monthly, or anything in between. Along the way, we assess together if we’re on the right track and progressing as planned.

No two coaching processes are alike. Most people facing significant career decisions usually prefer three to seven sessions before making a decision and a similar number of sessions afterward.

Career Coaching is for you if you are:

  • Facing a career decision and uncertain of the right path

  • Ambitious and seeking the best direction for your career development

  • Struggling to find the right fit

  • Considering whether leadership is the right path for you

  • Feeling pressured at work or caught between work and family responsibilities

  • Ready for the next challenge

  • Having exhausted all opportunities in your current role

  • Weighing multiple job offers and unsure of the best choice

  • Recently laid off or facing the possibility

  • In need of general career guidance

How I Approach Career Coaching

I am a trained psychotherapist with a background in philosophy, and I've been both a sailor and a top executive. This diverse foundation forms the basis of my toolkit as a career coach. This means we can delve deeply into your career questions, have concrete discussions about your options, and talk business. Ultimately, it all ties together.

On my journey from sailor to top executive, I’ve encountered people from all walks of life and corners of the globe, learning that people with wisdom and dignity live meaningful lives in countless ways. The professional world often emphasizes competition for status, but when we work together, we set that aside. You can be yourself, assured that I meet you without judgment, allowing you to explore your path with me as an experienced guide.

There are many ways to approach coaching, and many focus on helping clients "win." What you can be sure of with me is that I don’t work that way. I help you find a path that is meaningful to you and support you in gathering the energy needed for the long journey, so you can continue to excel in your work and in all other aspects of life that matter: friends, family, your health, and the good life in all its facets.

Who Are My Clients?

I welcome clients from nearly all backgrounds. Whether you’re a senior executive, middle manager, or employee, from a large or small organization, public or private sector. I’m not concerned with how many stars you have on your shoulders – what matters to me is simply that you are motivated to work on your own development.

That said, my typical clients are senior executives or middle managers in larger organizations. This might include a board member in a large company seeking leadership counseling or a middle manager looking for career guidance. It could be a newly promoted leader wanting to improve their ability to lead a team or an experienced specialist facing challenges as their organization evolves in a difficult direction
